This is one of the most frustrating questions from the MIJ collector. People often make the mistake of citing the American or European importer as the ‘maker’ of the guitar, when in fact several Japanese manufacturers were producing badged guitars out of their plants and shipping them to America and Europe to sell. Japanese manufacturers made multiple badges at the same plant, many of whom resemble each other closely. Some manufacturers merged or changed hands over the years which added to the confusion, sometime merging with another maker, only to pick up their name later. In some cases a manufacturer would farm out production to various manufacturers, making it still more difficult to know who made the guitar in your hands. Parts from other guitars would be used in the making of a particular badge for a period of time because it was all the manufacturer had to hand

I was told that the contract with Yamoto stated if any major subcontractor was to be changed the weaning process would have to take place MIJ to CIJ. They did this because it was easier to paint Alder it required less paint steps. And then there are exceptions to the rule! This model has gone through many changes during the last decade and the result is a very good guitar with a great tone and feel that suits a wide range of genres and styles.
The jack cup on Telecasters changed through the years. CRL 3-way switch with three patent numbers and the bakelite with flat side cuts.

In the late s and early s Fender was facing competition from lower priced Japanese made guitars. The lower priced Fender guitars were made in America and could not compete with the lower prices of Japanese made Fender copies. In the early s, Japanese labor and production costs were much lower than in America and to compete with the Japanese made guitars, Fender moved the lower priced Fender guitar production from America to Japan.
Fender began negotiations with several Japanese musical instrument distributors and reached an agreement with Yamano Gakki and Kanda Shokai to establish Fender Japan.

History[ edit ] V. Squier Company [ edit ] Jerome Bonaparte Squier , a young English immigrant who arrived in Battle Creek, Michigan , in the latter part of the 19th century, was a farmer and shoemaker who had learned the fine European art of violin making. He moved to Boston in , where he built and repaired violins with his son, Victor Carroll Squier. To this day, their violins are noted for their exceptional varnishes, and they command high prices as fine examples of early U.
Squier ranks among the best-known U. As his business grew, Squier moved the company to Lake Ave. With a limited market for violins in Battle Creek, however, Squier astutely sought relationships with national music schools and famous violinists. Up to , the best violin strings were made in Europe. Victor Squier started making his own hand-wound violin strings, and the business grew so quickly that he and his employees improvised a dramatic production increase by converting a treadle sewing machine into a string winder capable of producing 1, uniformly high-quality strings per day.
Squier violin strings , banjo strings and guitar strings became well known nationwide and were especially popular among students because of their reasonable price. In the s, Squier began making strings for the era’s new electric instruments; the company also sold pianos , radios and phonograph records until divesting itself of all string-related products in Fender Electric Instruments entered the picture in the s, when the V.

Where earth inspires the best apple wine. Guitars and family, family and guitars, anything music related, bicycle touring, swimming, HFC February 3, There seem to be a difference on the labeling of the guitars. Korean Standards made in years around up to at least are labeled “Hamer” on the headstock. I have one Korean Standard that’s said being produced in and the serial number starts with a 2. I case you have the simple Hamer logo printed on the headstock of your guitars and assumed a similar serial numbering system applies to the Korean made as it applies to the USA made then yours are from and On ebay I have seen new guitars for sale in the past that had first digits on the serial number that were close to the year of sale.
I just got in 3 models of some of the best vintage style guitars I’ve seen for the money. They arrived with a very good setup, the fit and finish is excellent, and they are made with quality hardware and electronics including a Wilkinson vintage style tremolo with “pop-in” trem arm and Allen-screw tightness adjustment, Sperzel USA locking tuners, and TTM’s own Palladium Series pickups.
If you’re not familiar with my site, it’s simple, and you’ll love it or hate it: It’s not a fancy site but it remains unchanged since ’98 so I figure, “if it ain’t broke – don’t fix it. Just click on any underlined text and it should open a picture; if you move your cursor over the pic and there’s a magnifying glass displayed instead of your cursor, click the pic and it will expand it to larger size. These guitars already have a great vintage vibe with an authentic looking two-tone sunburst gloss finish, parchment parts, and tinted neck, so the vintage logo is icing on the cake.
Other features include C-shaped maple neck with maple fingerboard and modern 9. Like the early vintage models this guitar also has stacked knobs with a volume and tone on each pot. The tone pots are the click type, rather than a smooth taper; nice touch. It might seem odd to have a Jaguar logo but we wanted to have a little fun with it and the two models are very close in styling, especially on these Vintage Modified models.
We also did a Jaguar with a Jazzmaster logo! The logo job is perfect with several coats of nitro finish, wet sanding between coats, built up to be as thick as the logo so the outline isn’t visible pic here.

August 23, — It has its arcana, which persuade believers that they have penetrated to secrets veiled from others, who are possessed of false consciousness. It appeals to the strongest of all political passions, hatred, and justifies it. It provides a highly intellectualised rationalisation of a discreditable but almost universal and ineradicable emotion: It forever puts the blame elsewhere, making self-examination unnecessary and self-knowledge impossible.
It persuades believers that they have a special destiny in the world. For disgruntled intellectuals, nothing could be more gratifying. Yet the socialist reality is lies characters formed in an atmosphere of suspicion compromise with evil toadying self-abasement Dalrymple once met a Marxist who told him that the level of dialectical debate in Moscow was so much higher, and so much wider in scope, than in Western Europe or North America.
If only you could fix your mind on something important, like selling cosmetics or life insurance. He notes that communist ideas, or prejudices, live on in those countries where Really Existing Socialism, as the dialecticians used so elegantly to put it, has never been experienced. In Jane Austen, Trade is ungentlemanly; in Marx, it is wicked; in British literary circles, it is both. But the attitude persists, the disdainful — and essentially snobbish — attitude that unites them with Castro and Guevara, Ho Chi Minh and Ulbricht, Lenin and Kim Il-sung.
The consequence of the philosophy may be seen on the shelves of any communist supermarket or in any East European field piled with rotting potatoes.
